We Didn't Fall Off the Face of the Earth
October has been very busy for us. (Mostly Ken). We docked the boat and headed back to Calgary the next day. Ken, RJ and Russ had a house to paint. (Never really retired!)
October 6th we attended the Fire Dept. Retirement Party. It was a lot of fun and we had a great time catching up with people we haven't seen for a very long time.
We were kept busy the two weeks while in Calgary having lunches and dinners with different friends every day. We apologise to those we did not see!
I spent most my days with Lea and had a wonderful visit. Enjoying her Grand kids.
We then headed to Winfield to say goodbye to RJ and see him off to his new career. It is wonderful to see them all grown up and realizing their dreams.
We have been here now for several weeks getting the house ready to put on the market. The market is booming here and we should realize a large return on our initial investment. Not bad.
Now boat related.
We bought 2 sea kayaks and are enrolling in lessons in the pool. Falling in there is not as cold as the ocean!
We joined a yacht club and will attend our first meeting this Fri. This allows us to get reciprocals as we travel south. An advantage in California where one can not anchor in many bays.
We joined Bluewater Cruising Assoc. and the Fleet which is a group that offer classes in boat related topics. It is also a social where you can talk to the doers and the want to do. Fleet is for those boaters travelling offshore or coastal cruising that plan on leaving in the next year.
We are in the planning stages of booking a school in Guatemala where we will study and home stay with the locals for 4 weeks. It is a total immersion and should help us with the needed Spanish for our trip. We are looking at the month of Feb.
Ken will be going to Calgary to work on a job with Russ and I will be looking for a job in about a weeks time.
Now everyone is caught up to what we are up to!
